Before starting My Pillow, Inc., he ventured into various small businesses, including a carpet cleaning service, a lunch wagon, and several food establishments in Carver County, Minnesota. He briefly attended the University of Minnesota before dropping out.
He established the Lindell Foundation, a non-profit organization supporting former addicts, veterans, and cancer patients by providing treatment and other resources. Additionally, he has contributed to charities such as the Salvation Army and Union Gospel Mission.
He married Dallas Yocum in 2013, but their marriage ended after just one month.
In 2021, his Twitter account was banned, sparking public criticism of former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey.
