A boxing legend, Mike Tyson became the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world in August 1986. His career was marked by both incredible victories and infamous moments, such as when he bit off a piece of Evander Holyfield’s ear during their 1997 match.
Tyson’s childhood was filled with challenges. After his mother passed away when he was 16, he was placed under the care of his legal guardian and boxing manager, Cus D’Amato, who helped shape his boxing career.
In 1992, Tyson was convicted of raping Desiree Washington, an 18-year-old who was Miss Black Rhode Island at the time, an event that greatly impacted his personal and professional life.
Tyson has been married three times. His first marriage was to Robin Givens from 1988 to 1989, followed by Monica Turner from 1997 to 2003. He married Lakiha Spicer in June 2009. He has eight children: Rayna, Amir, D’Amato, Milan, Exodus, Morocco, Mikey, and Miguel.
Like fellow heavyweight legend Muhammad Ali, Tyson’s career eventually came to a close after consecutive losses. He retired in 2005 after losing to Kevin McBride.
